Here it is some of my favorites in the French Quarter:

1. Cafe Du Monde ( Powdered French doughnuts day or night, great when hungover)
2. Lunch at Cafe Mesparos across from Jax Brewery ( Po-boy sandwiches and their famous onion soup )
3. French market for cool shopping ( It will please the wife )
4. Central grocery ( The Original Muffallata )
5. Pat O'bryans for 2 or 3 Hurricanes while sitting around their fire fountain.
6. Acme oyster house always good for any way you like them.
7. Deanies seafood on Iberville St ( The best hands down seafood ever )
8. Handgrenade at the Tropical Isle on Boubon ( most powerful drink in the quarter )

As for as hotels:

1. Place de Arms on St Ann street ( historic, beautiful rooms, pool, parking. )
2 Cornstalk Hotel { small but loads of history }
3. Outside of the Quarter a great place is:Quality Inn & Suites Maison on Saint Charles St. in the Garden district. Price is great and very secure with pools and the streetcar is right there. Great bike parking.

Could go on and on but this was just off the top.
If you plan on going to a Harley dealer, other than the clothing shops in the French Quarter, the only one open now is on Airline Hwy across from the Saints practice facility. PM me for more info if you want

To See: WWII Museum tops the list every time, I never get tired of going there. While you're near the WWII museum walk over a couple of blocks and catch the St. Charles St. streetcar for a ride through the Garden district towards Audobon Park. Those are my two favorite things to do when we go to NOLA.

To Eat: Cafe du Monde, I do not go to NO without getting some beignets. As others have said, Acme Oyster is very good, or Felix's directly across the street. I also like any of the Brennan family restaurants.

If you are riding down you need to stop at Middendorffs for some of the best thin fried catfish in the world.....It's located off I-55 in Manchac, which is about 10 miles past Hammond on the way down to N.O.

Maybe its just me but I thought the oysters at Acme were just ok, it's not worth the wait outside. If you must go to Acme stop at the one in Meterie is just as good and less busy. I also liked Deanies, but I prefer the one in Bucktown, not the one in the quarter. The HD shop in Harvey is fairly new, just another option.

Totally agree with the one in Bucktown. Just trying to keep him in one location . Didn't know about the one in Harvey . Thanks ill check it out.
Just think about this. New Orleans is about over indulging and there are plenty of places where a person can do just that. Eat, drink, and have a great time. Remember the Bloody Mary was invented to help your head the next morning.

Do not plan on visiting Hurricane Harley in Harvey. They closed, the owner (same owner) closed the one in Harvey and moved everything to the Metarie store.

Default Trip Report

Our trip to NOLA was great! We stayed at St. Louis Hotel on Beinville would def stay there again. Most of the big name resturants were too busy for us to stand in line for an hour to eat so we ate at some of the smaller places all in the Quarter, bars etc. which was all very good, we ate at the Resturant at the end of French Market next to River it was very good [ can't remember the name ] . The whole trip was kinda in a blur it went so fast and the 3 for 1's sure helped. The parade on Easter Sunday was nice, weather was perfect, heard a lot of good music, tried all the drinks we could stand, all in all it was a great trip just too short . The Bloody Marys at Two Sisters were a good kick start every morning. We stopped in Memphis for ribs on the way home.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. And I know what you mean about the drinks, we go out of our way to make day trips instead of over-nighters because it seems when we spend the night stuff gets crazy and I don't feel right for days after.
