Default Tn. help

Hey, any of you Tn. fellers ever took US 70 from East Tn. to Nashville? Im curious about the ride. The wife and I are headed to the Steel Horse Stampede in Franklin this next weekend and she hates the Interstate. Any info on the ride would be appreciated.

LT

I rode from Knoxville to Nashville on 70 last Oct. This time of year will be much better. The road is nice with min. to mod. traffic. Definitely better than the interstate. Be prepared to make a few stops in the small towns you pass through. Great Mom and Pop restaurants. The scenery on the plateau should be good (I ran into fog and drizzle). It is usually cooler on the plateau. Should be a god ride. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ride safe.

Thanks Greg, we're looking forward to the ride. I notriced that in Crossville, it looks like you have three choices: N70, 70, and S70. I guess we'll take S70 since it looks closer to Franklin. Does that sound right to you?

70S is now a 4 lane highway from sparta to just past Mcminnville. Your better off just taking 70 to 96 if you want to stay on the 2 lane. 70 has better scenery imho than 70n or 70s.

I agree. But I'd watch my speed. Apparently, August will be a month in which one should particularly aware of the speed limit.

Maybe I looked at the map wrong, but I thought staying on 70 would send up back up towards Lebanon. It looked like 70S dropped you down to where you picked up 96. Am I backwards on this?

you can pick up 96 from both 70 and 70S, but 70 would be the route I take. If you look, all 70 does is split off 3 ways...north, south and regular 70. 70 and 70N are 2 lanes the whole way, but 70 south is a 4 lane freeway for at least 35 minutes. 70 and 70 south will both hook in to 96. Its confusing, but if you look at the map of TN, I think you'll see what Im talking about. 70n will take you thru lebanon.
