Solo Trip, Texas to Pacific Coast Highway

From Grants Pass, you can either go up I 5 ( like what I am doing but in reverse) or if you have time, head due east to OR 62 to Crater Lake ( be sure to visit the lodge) and then over to US 97. Head north and visit Bend (grest brew pubs). Head to Portland on US 20, throught Salem.
After seeing Portlandia, go up to Hood on US 26. If you have the time, drive across Oregon on 26 to Baker City where you pick up I 84 and head to Boise. There really are no better routes.

Ok here is the deal, living just east of Moro Bay I travel the 1 almost weekly. Right now moro bay north is sunny and clear. Fog comes in when the temps inland go up. Right now we are experiancing offshores and it is keeping the fog at bay. SF, plan on taking your time because traffic can be hell. Yes you can split lanes if you want as long as you follow the law. Go to the DMV website and check it out. North of SF is some of the best ridign that you will run accross. Big Sur is nice but the redwoods are even beter. I have done the 1 from Port Angles Wa to Long Beach. Worth the trip.

Looks like I'll be doing north coast and Crater lake over Memorial day. Enjoy!
