I recently changed the engine oil and filter. I fired the bike up and now I hear a whining or wuring sound come form the primary case side. is this sound normal? At idle no noise, rev it and the noise is there. this is a screaming eagle 110 motor with 25000 miles on her. any info is greatly appreciated!!!! bikerbill71

 

Check the auto-tensioner in your primary. Most twin cams make a little whining noise from the chain but if your auto-tensioner is making the chain tight, its going to be louder.

Not trying to be a smartass but did you possibly drain the primary by mistake?

 

Morning, the chain tensioner wasn't tight and no I did not drain the primary when I changed the oil. I believe I found the whining sound, the bearing on the inner primary case for the clutch shaft is worn. Does anybody have the torq specs for the inner primary bolts, the compensator sprocket bolt, the clutch basket nut and the chain tensioner bolts?? I have a supplement service manual but the manual doesn't show the torq specs. Would like to get her up and running for the weekend.
