Default Street Glide CVO Seat

my 2017 has 6200 miles on it and I noticed at 5500 miles the seat began to delaminate. So the top layer of leather is peeling away. Anyone else had this issue? Of course the dealer says that won’t be covered under warranty. I said we will see about that.

just curious. did you condition it regularly with the leather stuff that came with the bike?

Once a week during riding season. Once a month when in winter storage.

Mine is a 2015 and i too use the leather preservative, normally after every ride when i clean up the bike. Now i've never ridden in rain nor do i keep the bike outside in the sun. So it should look new and it does.

Not sure if the preservative would work as well as it does if the seat was subjected to rain and a lot of sun.

could it be you're 'over' preserving it? my bike sees a lot of sun, rain, whatever and i only use the preservative once a year. seat still looks good, and bike is 5 years old.

When I lived in tundra land and had to hibernate the bike every winter, I’d apply leather treatment annually (once only per year). Since moving to s Tx last summer, no more bike hibernation, and I haven’t remembered to treat any leather or pleather...

Update. Harley Davidson decided that the seat issues are normal wear and tear. Truly disappointing that a company wont stand behind their product, a leather seat at 6,000 miles should not show signs of wear. My first new HD will turn out to be my last HD!
