Default ‘22 blue steel, tank not venting?

I have a ‘22 cvo with a flush mount gas cap. When it’s hot, the gas cap either won’t open at all (can’t even get it to quarter turn) or it’s REALLY hard to open (does pop up if I get it turned but not easily). I’ve already explored the exterior trim causing some of the issue, however that doesn’t explain why it happens more often when the cap is hot from the sun. Does anyone know of any tank venting considerations I should check out? Is the tank vented? There was a vent tube on my street glide, not sure on this one. Thought I saw one but idk. The bike is not throwing codes, does hiss sometimes when I do get the cap i

I have the same issue with my 2019. I'm not sure why but it is next to impossible to open and close in the heat of the sun.
Even worse if you have applied sunscreen and still have residue on your hands.
I've had to pull away from the gas pumps to let someone else use them while I fumble with it.

Welcome to the club.

I replaced the stock cap on my 21 SGS with the flush one. Beautiful looks but ran into the same exact problem. We had riden the Back of the Dragon and were at the station next door in Tazewell, VA on empty, and yes it was very hot out. I was about to give up when I put my riding gloves back on and gave it everything I had. I think problem #1 is the stick on ring plastic ring which moves/slides a little off center making it very difficult to get it to turn and pop up. Then there is not much leverage aand it can still be difficult to twist once up. I tried two different aftermarket flush caps including Arlen Ness and I think maybe Roland Sands. They were both a bust also. So bad I threw them away rather then offering them for sale. Major o-ring issue on one.

I honestly believe there is a problem with the female part of the tank also. It just doesn’t seem to be right.

I’m back to the stock cap and love it!

Wish I had better news.

only reason i have a flush mount cap is because it's what came with the bike, mine is squirrelly too....they are plastic and they shrink and expand with temp

cool concept, **** design doesn't work

I remember I had one hell of a time with mine on the 2018 RG CVO. I actually had to carry a rubber glove (same as I used for oil changes) in the cubby, so I could get some grip on it when twisting to open. Pain in the *** the whole time
