Default CVO Ipod issues

2011 CVO Streetglide has bad ipod. Harley says see Apple. Apple says see Harley. Everyones clueless. May 13 2013 my warranty expires. Is my ipod nano under a 2 year warranty? No one knows that either. Could be much bigger problems but would like to get this dealt with. Anyone know anything?

A couple of things come to mind. First. Are you sure it's the ipod that is causing the problem? Best way to be sure would be to plug a known working nano in to the bike's ipod connection. You could have a problem with the cable itself or the ipod interface inside the fairing. Second. Why would HD be telling you it's not their responsibility? That makes as much sense as having a problem with the radio/cd player and them telling you it's Harman Kardon's problem and that you would have to talk to them! The bike you bought came with all these accessories and they should be covered by the two year warranty.

Harley doesn't make the tires, but they warranty them. Harley doesn't make the brakes, but they warranty them. Tell them to stop feeding you bullshit, and fix the damn thing.

And the member that suggest just going and buying a new iPod... Don't listen to him. That mentality is just enabling the moco to forget their end of your business relationship with them.

Default IPod Output

I plugged in my IPod thru the AUX jack and the volume was just not there andI have to have my radio all the way up to be able to hear it. I checked thevolume on my IPod and that was all cracked up... After doing a bunch of readingon the net I found that there is a setting in your IPod that is called"feedback" and that was turned on. Once I turned that off, it nowsounds as loud as if I were listening to the radio.. Tip of the day..

Symptoms would help.
We have a place called unclaimed baggage. you can get Ipods fo all types. I paid $40 for one that looks like new and works great. They even warranty them for 90 days.
Check around and you probably find some place close to you that does the same thing. I keep a spare, one with my music and one for my wife.

Another little "gotcha" with ipod's...there is a setting on many of them that allows you to change ("shuffle") the song playing by shaking the ipod. You would definitely want to turn that to off. A friend of mine was swearing up and down he bought a bad ipod until we flipped that setting to off...problem solved.

On both of my last CVO's I haven't bothered to use the ipod that came with the bike, instead just plugged one I already had. Never had an issue with it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I was having the same problems with my 2012 Ultra Classic Electra Glide CVO. The IPOD was connected but none of the soft controls worked. I was sure I added all of the songs to the IPOD correctly. I have 4 IPODS so I am pretty familiar with how they work. IPOD works fine on my BOSE docking station in the house. Have to take it back to the dealer again in the morning to have it evaluated by a tech. Hope it is simple, otherwise I am already having problems with a CVO with less than 700 miles on it.
I will try your suggested remedies first.
Thanks again....Dwayne

Make sure the cables aren't bad!
I've found the HK radios are very complexed, I have a buddy Master wrencher at Harley, knows these radio's up and down, when I thought I had issues with the radio, or IPod, it was not knowing the radio system.
Make sure you have a Tech, who really knows the HK system, it's helped me out.
I've had Sony's in other bikes, I will never change back from a HK, they are the best.
On the down side, you almost have to be an Electrical Engineer for fully understand the HK!
No one ever tells you how that system really works, the sales folks don't!!!!
