1979 flh 1200 shutting down

1979 flh 1200 shutting down
Bike shuts down after riding about 1 hr but still has spark and after about a few minutes fires back up any suggestions

Check gas cap vent and if split tanks
Look at your gas cap make sure vent open and if have split tanks check crossover line a good luck.

really not enough info - what ignition - is it original in its wiring - carb type - had trouble in the past with gas tank - kind of thing

Pretty good bet its the coil. Fails when it gets hot and works again when it cools down. Been through that scenario a couple of times over the years.

My ironhead was doing the same. Ran ok then after it got hot it would die out. Wouldn't restart till after it cooled off. It was the coil going out.
i used the coil as an excuse to buy an ultima ignition with a new coil and the thing has run like new machine ever since
