It has nothing to do with travel. As I stated earlier because I had the bag mounts mounted to the supports without spacers there was not enough side clearance to the chain guard and also the caliper on the other side... I have never seen mounts without spacers.. have you?

Gotcha. I didn't catch that about spacers the first time. Definitely interested as I'd love some better shocks for mine. I'd go Progressive but, well, you know. So if Dyna's work, that could be an option. Keep us posted!

I used this home made tool to dis assemble my stock length shocks, but I cut off 3/4" from the spring. This lowered the bike about an inch and some how softened the ride a touch. Two up riding is perfect and letting a few pounds of air out makes riding alone damn near perfect. Some time we over engineer things.

These shocks appear to be well-designed, and the review content looks genuine vs. authored.

Initially thought only black were available, however got an email response that there is a Nickel Body / Chrome Spring Option as pictured, although $790 a pair may be overkill given the level of sophistication of the '75 FXE suspension.

Looks like Ohlins and Hagon may be options, have inquiries in there as well. Hagon seems to get raves for customer service and value.
if those shocks are even an option then i say go for it

About how much do you weigh? I have an 80 FXWG that I'm trying to figure out. I had Legends Revo for an FXR, 13 inch, on there and it's way too soft as mentioned earlier in this thread. On progressive suspension's website they list the same part number for my FXWG and any dyna as interchangeable. At least the lower lines like the 412 and 444. I want to run Ohlins and I'm sure they will bolt right up. But I'm curious as to what spring rate I should get. Their standard is 190-225 lbs. I weigh 190. I just don't want them to be too soft.

I am glad to hear that you didn't bottom out using the Dyna shocks. But I'm a little confused. Is it possible that the saddle bag mount hit the chain guard because the Dyna shocks weren't stiff enough? What was the reason that the mount hit the chain guard? That shouldn't happen if the travel of the rear end is limited, right? And doesn't the shock limit that travel? So maybe they didn't bottom out, but because they have more travel than the shovel shocks, maybe they allowed the back end to travel so far that the saddle bag mount hit the chain guard? Just thinking out loud and I welcome any corrections to my (mis)understanding.
Did you find a solution?
