Default How do I remove headlight nacelle on 1984 FLH

I need to get at the wiring. This 1984 FLH shovel has the nice original polished aluminum headlight nacelle that encloses the headlight. I have removed the headlight rim, and the nacelle is in two halve that I have tried to pry apart put no luck. I have removed the two bolts on each side of the nacelle that hold the brackets for the fog lights and turn signals on. Are there some hidden bolts?

All I can think of is the Handlebar riser Cover at this point!

Two bolts per side I assume you mean!!!4 total on the sides, as well as the Ring as you stated..
If that ring and "bucket" are removed, one can generally access the Wiring... but if you are doing Major surgery... yea remove the Nachelle..

On my 1970, you also need to remove the handle bar riser clamp cover

AND

Around the headlight (after you remove the bezel) there are 5 or six screws. Take out only one side of them and then the nacelle should come apart as two pieces.

#1 Do yourself a really big favor and get a parts manual. Best thing you will ever do.

Trim ring is off as you stated as are the fog lamps and turn signals which are attached to the brackets. Zip tie the brackets to your front crash bar so that they are not just hanging using the wires for support.

Next remove the retaining ring. It is held in place by sheetmetal screws.

Remove the mounting ring and headlamp. Unplug the light from the back of the lamp.

Remove adaptor ring.

Remove handlebar clamp cover.

At this point and before separating the halves, undo any switches you have on either side of the nacellle. If you do not you will not be able to free each half once you separate them (they will come apart but they will be hanging by the wires asscoiated withe the wires). And before you do that. Tag the wires. Hazard swithches and turn low/high beam wires need to go int to an exact spot on the switch so that the units function properly.

Do not pry on the aluminum. It will only lead to cracks, gouges or breaks because the aluminum is softer than the steel tool you are probably using.
