Default help with cables

I ordered this barnett throttle cable for my 79 flh and the screw in end is too small, it fits perfect in the return hole

Am i missing something really basic here?

It is sold as a throttle cable, it has no spring

I ordered it from jp but this is the same part number

I'm not that familiar with the '79 throttle setup (if there are 2 cables) but it sounds like you got an idle cable instead of the throttle. My '96's have both throttle and idle cables and the idle cable has a smaller fitting than the throttle.

Without looking at J&P catalog, I am thinking you might have an 81 and later throttle cable. 75 to 80 used a single cable (#56313-76).
