Single throttle cable??

Default Single throttle cable??

i've got my dresser torn down for winter and am thinking on running a single throttle cable instead of the factory dual setup.

any thoughts/comments??

Not recommended! If the spring throttle return breaks or comes unfastned, you will be in a bind.

RH8234's response is definitely the reason that there are two throttle cables. On the other hand, I'd rank the chance of that spring breaking as slightly less than being struck by lightning. On the other hand, an improperly adjusted or binding return/idle cable can cause a throttle to stick. From experience, the best reason to maintain two cables is that in case the throttle cable breaks, you can do a roadside repairby replacing it with the return cable. That can come in VERY handy.

Can't wait for ETC (electronic throttle control), you tuners think you have problems now.

same thing could happen in your car/truck. i haven't had a throttle cable break on any of my vehicles for years, if ever...

I would highly advise against it. If you have a problem with your pull open cable, the pull close is your safety net. Also, the odds of injury in a cage vs the odds of injury on a bike are much different.
