I have a pretty similar 76, so I'm hoping the value climbs.

Not bad...mine was going for 7500 on CL and I got it down to 5500. I was working at the dealership at the time (a multiple brand dealership that also owns the local harley dealership) so I was getting advice from the sales manager and the GM who knew the seller. Of course had to convince the wife I had to buy it before I sell my original 80 Sportster.

There are 3 FLHs on CL in my area but all of them going for 11k+

Replaced fuel line and removed the Pingel in-line fuel filter since the bike already has a Pingel 6211-CH high flow fuel valve with filter. Also siphoned the tank to clean out residue on the bottom of tank. Cycled the fuel 4-5 times on each side. Tank is now clean. Here is a pic of my first cycle on one side.

Replaced spark plugs with NGK high performance plugs 5k ohms. Both Oreilly and Auto Zone did not have the Motorcraft or Champions plugs for my bike.. Replaced gaskets and installed new jets. Tested for fuel leaks. Tested for intake and exhaust leaks. Took the bike for a test run.

Popping on acceleration gone - intake leak.

Discovered the idle mixture screw was excessively rich which I believe caused my bike to always die on idle even if I increased idle speed. It is probably the cause for my black plugs that I replaced.

My question for those with Super B Carbs - is the initial set-up for the B the same as the E i.e. 1 1/4 turn counter-clockwise from just seated for the idle mixture and 1/2 turn clockwise after just touching throttle stop for idle speed?

The bike also feels like it is skipping or hesitating when throttling is 2nd....is that a signed of the pilot/intermediate jet being too small?

Thanks for any help.

Rookie error on my part....the enrichment device was left open. Since I had no reason to pull the enrichment open to start the bike and never opened it, never thought to check. Probably was pulled by my indy and forgot to close it. Was able to set idle so definitely the reason I could not set the idle mixture and speed, and the reason my plugs were black. Live and learn. I am beginning to realize it is best to do it yourself and do it right the first time rather than depend on an indy that doesn't know shovels.

Off topic...just came across a CL post selling shovelhead parts

FRONT DRUM BRAKES, $400.00
FRONT AND REAR CRASH BARS $200.00
ROUND SWING ARM $280.00
REAR DRUM BRAKES WITH AXLE. $400.00
FRONT & REAR WHEELS $350.00
WHITE BUDDY SEAT WITH RAIL,$300.00,
AND MUCH MORE

Here are a couple of pics from the post

Are these reasonable prices? Parts look in pretty good condition. Trying to find out what bike the parts were taken off. Also inquired about his OEM exhaust system. Interested in the buddy seat too.
