Head scratcher
Just got the paperwork and everything matches. This is just the motor. No frame but everything is there. Have an old rigid frame oil tank and mis. Stuff . I'll rig it up and see if it will come to life. Thanks for all your help guys. And I'll keep ya posted
If the "title" matches the engine and Not the Frame you ain't gonna wanna bring that to MI... if it is like the California paperwork...I believe they have more than a couple Numbers on the "title"... But, It has been quite some time, for me.
Sprintharley, as barneyboy demonstrated, the engine number indicates a 1982 1340cc FXWG (Shovel). And here’s another chart, this one from my 1971-84 H-D FX Models catalog.

But when you say ‘right next to the front mount’ do you mean next to the front motor mount? Or is the number stamped just below the base of the front cylinder?
And I’m wondering why it’s on the left case instead of the R-H case because Service Bulletin M-868 seems to indicate the change of engine number location on 1340cc models began during the 1983 model year.

Some 1983 Shovels had it on the left case while some had it on the R-H case. But I’m intrigued about your 82 having it on the left case. Can you post a photo of your engine number please.
Also on your left case, look further forward for a crankcase production number—for example, 1482 012 123. If the cases are a matching pair then this same production number will probably be stamped on the R-H case but it will be inside the gear compartment near the cam bearing.
And check the rear of both cases for another ID number—for example, A123. If both cases have the same ID number at the rear then they are another indication that the cases are a matching pair.
All these numbers may still be on record at the factory.
