Thanks for info. Solenoid was Toast.

if it has mechanical weights in the points --one of the springs may be holding it at fully advanced position --[ if the motor wants to start full advance it wants to go backwards--starter cannot overcome this -- causing a tremendous current draw --welding the solenoid -- had this happen on my 74 ironhead --- when you replace the spring -make sure you round off the edge of hole where the spring pushes into -this is where they break ---
