Shouldn't be a problem as long as you turn the bike upside down.

Repost your question down in the shovelhead forum for something that resembles a more serious reply.

I 've tried it and beleive me it's easier to go through the top. It's extremley slow because the air has nowhere to go,then you loose half of it trying to get screw back in.

There is no easy solution. You can either make the oil can and funel shown in the service manual or you can take top tree off and the end plugs and pour it directly into the forks. If you want to attempt it through the lower legs drains. I would get one of those large plastic syringes that will hold the 6 1/2 or 7 ounces of oil. I would add a little for leakage and have a friend stand by with the allen plug.

I pulled the top tree off, and pulled those stupid plugs off. Then put them on a bench and drilled friggen holes in them. Now the job just takes a few minutes.

Thumbs up

Switch to a Springer and you won't have to mess this that stuff!

But then bikerlaw has the right idea otherwise.

is it really that difficult to expose the top nuts?? You didn't post where your from. It's so cold here, I don't think we'll be riding till july. By those numbers I'd have 6 mos to loosen two bolts and maybe the nacelle if i had time.

That would be fantastic if thats how it worked. But the top tripple tree is on TOP of those nuts. You have to all but completetly dissassemble the front end to do this. Just the way Harley built the things back then.
