Shovel- starter does not engage
That is not a weak relay.
To be weak, there needs to be a standard regarding power output, or ability to resist force.
A relay does neither, and that is why it can never be weak.
If it does not pass adequate current, then the device it is connected to will not respond with the desired action.
This means the relay is FAULTY, but not weak. The current that passes(or is intended to pass through) can be weak, but the relay can only ever be faulty.
I just want the truth to be known.
It would seem you would like to appear to be "right", even though you are wrong.
Hence your name calling. You will not see that from me.
Just for the record, it is impossible to get a voltage reading from the output side of a relay, without current flow.
That can only happen with a device that generates power.

Name calling who did that ? The mention of arguing like a woman isn't calling you a name and you've pretty much made my point with your reply . You want to play engineer why are you asking about something as dirt simple the starting circuit on a shovelhead for ? Since you've got the relay thing dialed down so well the rest should be child's play , not much to them .
You obviously are educated well above that level so is this a trolling trip or what ? Your splitting hairs over terminology weak / faulty is about the same thing in everyday mechanic speak . I quit the right and wrong game with my last wife 25 yrs ago , you so don't rate on that scale .
Good luck on your bike bud, and here's a nice site you may find interesting .

I was never asking about the starting circuit. I only asked what was meant by a "weak" relay, as I know there is no such thing. I was happy to clear that up.
There can not be any such thing as a weak relay. Only weak output from a relay(which may, or may not, be related to a fault in the actual relay itself). I am well aware that the poster who originally made the remark has no idea what he is talking about.
I did not make your point, as you are clearly wrong. I merely stated the fact of the matter.
I want the OP to have a real shot at getting it sorted out, and telling him some fairytale about "weak relays" is only confusing him, as it is total nonsense. There is no "right or wrong game" to it. Not for me, anyways.

ok i got some new input on this. i checked everything and it was good. honasty i was baffled. so i went to my dad as he owned the bike before me and worked in the dealership way back when. and he said replace the bendix gear on the starter. he told me this happens all the time then he pulled out a box from his toolbox and had 6 of them. i replaced it and it worked fine.
