Default Swing arm pivot shaft

I have a 1983 FLHT 5 speed with a rubber mounted engine and chain primary and final drives. I need to pull the transmission for a rebuild and am having a problem removing the pivot shaft that goes through the swingarm. The shop manual says to drive it through from the right side but it won't move at all. I have heard sometimes the pivot shaft can be frozen. Any suggestions of what to do. Thank you in advance.

I've never worked on a rubber glide, but I'ld spray some Break-free or WD-40 and let it sit for a bit. Then get a heat gun and warm it up as much as you can. Use a brass drift an a BFH and pound it out.
Just my .02 cnets!

You can rebuild the tranny on the bike, but if you have to get it out, look at the previous post.
once you get the shaft out, replace all of the rubbers, and use anti sieze when you put the shaft back in.

Get some stuff called kroil penetrating oil and do a couple soak downs over a couple days before you try to remove it the stuff is amazing for this kinda work . Otherwise what Al said take the whole thing out and have it pressed out professionally .
