It is harder to make an FXST look lowered with that rear fender with the up sweep at the end. I put the 09 Fat Boy fenders on mine that have more fender below the strut. My pic shows the fender edge almost even with the top of the wheel. I weigh 180, so when I am riding it the extra weight makes the fender edge below the top of the wheel edge. But, that look is not for everyone. Yours looks very good I think!

When I sit on mine the fender edge is really close to the top of the rim and I weigh 185. It's low enough for me and the fact that I get to get the bobtail fender (which I love).

Just lowered my Slim 1.5" with the lowering kit from Blazing Bikes. Very easy to fit and really loving the lowered look and feel.

Have only ridden a few kilometers since the install but feels pretty normal. I'm doing a longer 1200km, 4 day road trip next week, so I'm sure I'll have a better opinion/feel of the impact on comfort.

Here's a quick pic I took in my studio just now...

Is that the after pic? If so then it looks like it could use another 2 inches.

Yes. Obviously the pic doesn't do it justice. The 1.5" drop is more than enough for me. The bottom edge of the rear fender lines up perfectly with the top edge of the whitewall on the tyre, looks like it should.

I think I'm going to order one of these to hold me over until I get the Shotgun. I think I have about 2 1/2"-3" that I can lower it before I need to remove the rear fender braces. Anyone ever taken those out? Is it still safe to have a passenger back there without them?

Hey Village Idiot, if you're talking about removing the inner rear fender braces on a Deuce, there is plenty of room to lower the bike before hitting them. In fact, you can drop the rear onto the bumpstops and have literally zero suspension travel before you will hit the fender braces. We've done it and it feels like riding a rigid. I also wouldn't recommend removing the fender braces if you plan to have a passenger on the back.

I just put a 17x6 wheel with 200/55/17 tire on it. I did shave the bottom wire run off of the braces to give it more room if needed, but if I go too low, the bottom of the braces are going to be carving into the tire.

I did kind of measure using my hand and a ruler and I have about 2 1/2" from the bottom of the brace to the bottom of the fender and the bit of room from where the tire curves in to the bottom of the fender.

Ah ok, gotcha. That's very cool. What tire brand and part number did you go with? What wheel? Did you change anything else, such as pulley, belt, or spacers to get it to fit? Just curious, because I've been thinking about running a 200 tire on my bike.

As for lowering, if you think you have about 2-1/2" clearance, you should be fine. Regardless, the kit comes with both 1-1/2" and 2" lowering collars so if you try the 2" collars and it looks like it will rub, it's a quick two minute job to switch to the 1-1/2" collars. You won't even have to put the bike back on a jack to switch them. Here's a link to the kit HERE.
