Man...that's another hundred+ bucks. This is adding up to just as much as the doofy SE compensator package that has parts to be glued on the primary. Hate to say it but I'm thinking I'll stick with my stock that is a tiny bit noisy but working.
I sprung for the SE comp last winter when I did my build and this will be near the $$$ ball park of the SE comp, but 100x better piece....just wish it came out sooner.

Once mine acts up its in the dumpster and I'm makin a call to Baker!

I will try to hunt down the 2011-13 books and see exactly what year they switched.
Found on the MOCO web cite. Part #30041-08A is on 2012 and up. 07 to 11
you need to buy the rotor.

I believe you got this correct, but digging in my Parts manual it is kinda odd:

My 2012 HD Parts manual shows the rotor with the spring cup 30041-08, but the actual rotor on my 2012 Fat Bob is the one without the spring cup 30041-08A.

So 2012+ models already come w/ rotor separated from the springs, right? Just curious for future bike knowledge

Primary locking tool is needed, snap ring pliers, torque wrench, and other regular sockets but the best tool would be the manual hands down(has step by step and TORQUE values needed). With the experience you have noted it should be no problem.

NOTE: Nut on the clutch is reverse thread! You should loosen both the comp and the basket and take it out at the same time.

Guys, thanks a lot for advice on swapping out the comp in my 09 glide, its appreciated.

I have a factory srvc manual for the bike so that should have me covered.

So since my bikes still making the same loud slam/band sound with a new starter when i fire it up that would be the symptom of a bad compensator, correct?

Thanks....Scott

Before the starter that would have been the first thing that I would of replaced.

Buy the rotor from HD and get the compensator from Baker.

I have an 09 FL book in my hand showing the -08 and it has no spring cup according to the picture. I also have a 2010 Dyna book that has the -08 but the rotor is turned around backwards but it looks like it has a cup. I'm going to track down an -08 and find out for sure. We have a -07 with the cup and a -08A without so this will be the last piece of the puzzle.
