Default Hidden antenna

Am thinking of getting rid of my shorty antennas and was wondering how the hidden in dash one works. Do you get good reception? Thanks

I have been told by several who have the "hidden in the fairing" antenna that it is not as good as the stock one.

I am looking to replace my stock one with a shorty antenna mounted on the Tour-Pak.

Never had any problems with the hidden antenna. When we go on long rides where AM / FM stations are scarce I usually used my XM or MP3 players. CB was just used as an intercom

No issues, probably somewhat of a reduction in range with it, but I can't really tell. It gets all the local stations that it used to, no problem. And we also usually stick to the 3,000+ songs on the memory stick anyway. I always check the weather on my phone at gas/pee stops, so we rarely use the radio at all.

But when you have a big duffel bag on the rack and need to get in there on a long trip, it sure is nice not having to deal with anything sticking up in the way. I think we're a lot less likely to break the lid hinges now, and definitely can't bust the antenna mount.

Easy install, too. eBay, I think, it was like fifteen bucks. I left the original wire and the little stub that the stock antenna mounts on; I need to get an acorn nut and a chrome spacer around it yet, or something to make it look a little nicer, though.

OH, if you've got a Rushmore, make sure to get one with the correct connector, it's not the normal banana jack thing any more. They "improved" those now.

I installed the Harley Boom hidden antenna, works fine, never really noticed any issues and I had the shorty antenna before I did this

No, I think they work horrible, I went with a stubby.

There are quite a few on the market, obviously like most electronic items, some are better than others.

If you have any type of Foil backed Dyno Mat (sound dampener) lining your faring, it will interfere with your radio reception with a hidden antenna.

Before lining my faring on my RGC CVO, the HD hidden antenna worked great, after lining the faring...not so much

Tried the H-D amplified and the J&M. Meh Thanks but I'll stick with the factory whip.
