Well I finally found a set of exhaust to go on my bike, 85 fxsb.... Catch is the battery and tray are in my way. Any thoughts on what to do? Whatever I do must look clean. If the battery tray was smaller it would all fit. Is there a way to not need a battery at all or is that only on mag bikes?

 

I was able to lose maybe a quarter of an inch modifying my battery box to hold the newer, thiner style battery. Do you have a picture to see what you are working with.

From what I understand the lithium ion batteries are supposed to be pretty small.

 

THC is right about the lithium ion batteries... a lot of the v rod guys use them since the battery on them is right behind the steering head so it gets 11 pounds off the highest part of the bike an you can squeeze the ecm into the new gap or put a air ride pump in there.

 

I wonder if they make any nice mint setups for them

 

How would you get the bike to spark with no battery? You would either need a magneto or points, right?

 

Well I was reading up on bikes that would use a capacitor. And like the photo above I posted I can't find a battery on that bike.

 

If you pull the battery does the exhaust hit the battery box. That could be a problem even if you use a thinner battery.
