Awesome if you join. Would love to have you. The ferry will save you some major traffic headaches from my experience heading from my place up to Ludington. You can map the ferry route iirc. The fast ferry is down is Muskegon iirc and may be even quicker. I know there was one there too just unsure of run times and cost, but the cost is worth it vs fighting all the construction and nightmares of that interstate traffic.

Well, as of right now I would say we are going to give it a go. Gonna call and cancel our hotel reservations in Detroit tomorrow, I am a little surprised that my wife to be is down for the trip. So if anyone from the Michigan, Indiana, Ohio area is going to be going we'll have to try and hook up for the ride to Savannah. Only looked at the map briefly, but with the suggestions from Slye it looks like we will be able to avoid Chicago without going too far out of the way. Should be an awesome ride there along Lake Michigan from Holland south

 

If you don't want to take the ferry across the pond the easiest way to avoid the "Chicago" area is to take 80 across once you get into indiana. That will keep you south of the city.
The traffic all depends what time you get to the area. If you go thru between 11 am and 2pm it isn't to bad usually.

 

how far is savanna from Davenport? Anamosa?

 

Thanks for the heads up BB. I was lookin at maybe crossing over on 30, but plenty of time to figure out it. I'm not the biggest fan of highway riding, but not scared.

 

 

if you take the ludington ferry to manitowoc, ill meet you there, scoot west to meet blackpearl(Kris) then south to savanna

 

Are the ones going staying the 9th and 10th then making the journey home or just staying overnight the 9th??
