I know the 1.5 ohm is for single fire but what is the 5 ohm used on?

No you didn't my brain was not firing on both cylinders that's all!!!

I'm just really hoping it's just the coil as those pickups are expensive!!!

I guess what I should have said is that I'm gonna see if it eats the new coil and if it does then I'll look at the cam sensor but I can't get to it until wednesday.

Sorry about that.

What ignition do you currently have in it? I don't see how a cam sensor can take out a coil. all it does is makes or breaks a signal to the ignition module.... Standard Electric makes a pickup for our Evo's and they're a hell of a lot less money. $40 on Amazon. I purchased one and am going to try it once I get my motor back in the bike.

What the hell is this statement, not 3hp again ?

Anything electric can be a crap shoot on purchase, Only got 3 months out a Ultima coil and when purchasing the old school name Accel coil it looked identical to the Ultima out of box, had to put the Accel decal on in that was laying loose in the box, the badged Accel coil has been ok for 3 years.
Good chance a 3rd world produced $50 coil comes from the same child labor factory plant using cheap as possible material, it is very possible of a quick or initial useage failure. I see daily situations of high dollar parts failing from different big name companies or have a run of bad parts and need to pull them off and install updated replacements. Some are replacement parts that replaced the bad part being bad out of the box and throws diagnostics for a loop because you are now second guessing yourself.

A bad ignition module can eat a coil. That is, if the dwell is too long, they will cook a coil, especially a marginal one. Not a bad pickup, that just sends a tiny little voltage to the module.

And when you say the coil is shot, how are you testing this? What is the resistance of the primary and secondary sides?

If you have bad wires, which don't let voltage go to spark plugs sometimes (intermittent misfire), spark can find its way thru coil itself, destroying it.
Check your wires resistance. If resistance is infinite, replace or repair the wire.
Are you sure the coil is bad?
Sometimes coils have cracks which let sparks to escape when humidity is high. Check for cracks.

No not 3 hp again. Looking for more like 20... lol....

Remember this thread I started?

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...rank-bent.html

Well it turned out the crank was out .019" on the primary side taking out the left side of the case. Scott is currently machining new parts for the case. So it's going through an overhaul again. DOH!!!!

Sorry Mike not trying to HiJack..... I did repost my old thread though

I have a Dynatek 2000p in there right now.

It had no spark at the spark plug and when I put in another coil the bike fired right up.

That tells me the coil had already gone bad.
