I recently broke down on a trip with my 2008 FLHTC, and the mechanic said that it was the stator so we changed the stator. The regulator is barley a year old as is the battery.After changing the stator we noticed that the bike wasn't charging , but yet we were getting 54 amps at 2800 RPM and 14.5 volts from the regulator and every time we hooked everything up together it wouldn't charge, so we noticed a short in the system once repaired I did about 600 km before the problem re-occurred and now is broken down once again. Any suggestions or has anyone had this type of problem?
