Do you have a part nuber for that fender? What did it run ya, if you don't mind my asking?
60400-12DH Rear fender vivid black $320
73380-12 Base for tail light $32
68770-02B wiring harness w/conduit $30
complete tail light/turn signal assembly from street glide $82 ebay
Parts catalog showed some interesting looking hardware for mounting the fender on the FLD, I used my hardware and spacers from my Low rider, and I think some 1/8" spacers from the hardware store since the FLD fender is narrower.

Your bike is evidence of how good the Fat Boy (vice Heritage) front fender looks on the FL Dyna ... might be time to change your sig pic (although that is a great pic) ...

Looks great! Where did you get the fender for $320?

I gather you are referring to the inner bracing on the sides and the lower rear part of the fender aren't you? I think that is all for the saddle bag support - so you just used the original inner fender brackets ( nut plate) that was already on your LR? And I assume you used a 1/8" spacer on each side right? That would confirm the measurement I took from one at the dealer with a brake drum gauge - seems to be a quarter inch narrower than other Dyna models (other than FXDF and DWG). I want to get one but cannot afford the reduced width so I would have to make it wider by a quarter inch yet retain the tail light/signal mount.

Thanks Surfor. It's funny you mention the front fender , after seeing yours and AFMM3's retro styling I was scanning ebay for used heritage fenders.

Yes, the inner bracing and the bracket doubler is what I skipped. I used the inner brackets, and the spacers that were on the front bolt from the Low Rider, and added my own 1/8" spacers on all four mounting bolts. Even with the spacers I added it seemed like it was pulling it out a little. At one point I was worried the fender would be too narrow with my 170 tire but it's got some clearance on the sides so I'm good with it.
You can't afford the reduced width because of your tire, or because it would require alot of spacers? I think I've seen a few guys using Roadking rear fenders with the holes filled and then drilled for the Dyna mounting. That might be an option for you. I'm not good at welding and bodywork so I took the easy but expensive route.
Ya, I've got a 200 out there ( measures 190 mind you) and with just a 1/4" clearance on either side, putting on a narrower fender wouldn't be a good idea - heard about putting a touring fender as some have done but making an FLD fender wider seems like less work.
I'm talking about the whole bike. Some bike here are freaking awesome. I want to start a thread to see them. I'm not talking about bikes that all look factory with some different light and controls.
I've seen a lot of responses, a lot of gorgeous bikes. Mine may be somewhat plane in comparison, but still worth a look
