Good Morning,
I need to reduce the clutch level pull force on the new 2023 Road Glide. Having hand problems and need a lighter clutch pull. Looking at Soft brake’s reduced level, Muller power clutch.
Has anyone used these items or any other device to reduce the level pull on the 2023 cable clutch?
I don't have a cable clutch but I can tell you that for me, the Softbrake reduced reach lever made it where I couldn't start the bike in gear. I buffed some of the metal away where the clutch switch rides and fixed it, in case you go that route and run into the same issue.
Muller stuff is good, I have their slave cylinder and it's very well made. Lots of attention to fit and finish.
I put the Muller power clutch in my Heritage and the difference is significant. You won't be disappointed with it like you would with the gimmick levers out there.
Thanks for the replies so far. I have the Softbrake lever on my 2020 Road Glide and it works the neutral safety switch but it doesn’t reduce the clutch effort enough.
I’ll wait and see if anyone chimes in with other answers but so far the Muller clutch is in the lead.
Soft brake and adjustable reach levers don't reduce the effort they only bring the lever closer to the grip. That allows more finger length on the lever where more muscle is available to pull in the lever.
I installed the Mueller slave cylinder on my wife's 2020 CVO trike hydraulic clutch it reduced the lever effort in half. A great improvement.
I'm also looking at the Mueller for my cable clutch 2023 Street Glide special. I've installed the upgraded clutch rod actuator from HD on an older Softail. It's not a difficult job loosening/removing the exhaust is the hardest part. You'll need a heavy duty snap ring plier for the job, a drip pan and trans oil to replace what will leak out. Other than that no special tools needed.
Mueller and Oberon brake and clutch levers really improved my enjoyment of riding. I’ve front brake lever set at 1 closest reach and clutch lever set at 6. If I set clutch lever at 5 or closer I have difficulty clutch getting completely disengaged. It’s little far out for me but I’m used to it now.
