twice in the past six months have had my 2022 RA1250S with now 23,500 miles lose complete power on the highway.
Today at speed lost all throttle input, dash working - engine and oil light I think illuminated - lost all engine power. Coasted to shoulder. Turned bike off for a few minutes and restarted and everything was fine. It felt as when I was still coasting at speed when shifting into lower gear there was no drag from the transmission as tho no mechanical connection. Minute or two before loss of power had been using cruise control but turned it off. I was lucky to get to shoulder as bike was slowing drastically.
A few months back going around an exit ramp bike just turned off - display off - engine off. Waited and it restarted. This was about three miles after filling up with gas and thought I might have created a vapor issue.
About 9 months ago I lost power on the highway during stop and go traffic and though I accidentally hit kill switch (had winter gloves on) but now not so sure I accidentally did anything wrong. (I don't recall position of on/off switch kind of panicked) it did restart after maybe 30 seconds of trying.
I wonder if a battery starting to fail could be causing all this ? Last week had trouble starting in parking lot kept hitting power button for like four minutes wouldn't catch but starter seems strong but did worry about draining battery. After some rest it finally started and rode fine.
Fuel pump is not noisy. Do dealer service every 5K miles and do some oil changes myself. Any thoughts, use bike almost daily. Don't have access to an electrical outlet for battery maintainer.
Battery is easy to check. Get it load tested. Check all connections and grounds - clean them.
On my 97 Dyna, I had my bike where everything turn on/off about 3x while on the highway. New battery solved it.
Another situation with the bike running/not running was a connector to the ignition was just a tad loose. I wound up checking the ignition (had moved from top of gas tank to where the horn is years prior) and found one of the spade connectors didn't fit as tight as the other two.
Have you had your right hand control module replaced/checked? Thats a common one on the PA. I had mine replaced for the opposite problem. I would push "start" and it would do nothing for a like 10 count, then start. I've heard of others saying its done the same thing you've mentioned. The part is actually different if you have a '21 or '22. The start button should sit proud of the on/off switch, not flush, on the new part.
I though about that because throttle was dead _ I also thought cruise control could have messed things up but the more I think about that the less likely.
No nmy right hand control module has never been replaced.
Good info - I'm taking it into dealer thinking there computer might detect arror codes

You can check for codes yourself on the dash screen.. go to bike maintenance, check diagnostics and it will give you a list of the codes by module. When my RHCM went, it had a code but didnt throw it on the main screen. I had to seek it out. Mine threw "B116609C", which is a Run Switch Fault. That said, if its under warranty, just bring it in and have them check it.

Yes thanks for the info...yeah I should have chk'd codes when the event happened..I thought some codes/events are not accessible w/o a Snap-On style scan tool ? But I will investigate some more.
