Just turned 70 and test rode a Heritage. I had a 2018 Heritage and always missed it. I have also had a surgery that has me much more comfortable in the Heritage saddle.
I have owned 3 (yes, three) Pan America models and they have been the most exhilarating bikes I have owned. I have decided on a Heritage for a couple of other reasons: stature is main one. Though the ST is slightly lower than the SP, I am still on my toes when stopped and just prefer the stability of flat feet.
I put $$ on the bike trying to make me stay with it but the Heritage just suckered my older bones in.
For the record, I never had an issue with any of the previous SP that many have had. Only the fuel pump on my first 2021 at 11,000 miles. I have always kept a battery tender on after each ride. The idea that it is only for winter or long periods was not my opinion.
The ST is a fantastic motorcycle. But then, aren't they all when you get another one?
If you can you should keep it and add Heritage to the garage I'm same age as you are and love riding my BMW and Harley it's just two different kind of enjoyment.

That is, of course, a great idea and I have considered it - heavily. I don't want regrets but the Heritage seems to be a wise decision with my current situation. I plan to keep riding until I can't. Hoping that is a long long time away!
