Default Anybody ever bought a bike from a leasing company?

There's a company in Florida called Off Lease Motorcycles that I'm thinking about buying a bike from. I did a little research and my AI guy - granted, he may be iffy sometimes - says it's ok to buy from lease companies because the people who lease bikes are usually very easy on them because they have to pay for repairs when they turn them back in. Hmmm. Maybe.

Anyway, it's a low mileage bike and it sounds on "paper" like it might be a pretty good deal. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks in advance, the life you save may be mine.

Nothing to offer in terms of experience but am surprised to learn that leasing a motorcyle is even a thing.

Sometimes a name is just a name.
In the end, it is a used motorcycle and should be reviewed as such.

A VIN check could give you a little bit of history....at least the number of owners and possible locations.

Sometimes used bikes at some places are acquired on trade but many more are acquired through auctions or deals with name brand dealers that do not want to mess with used bikes that are 5 or more years old.

Never heard of anyone leasing a bike......and a lot of those bikes for sale are quite a bit older for recent leases.......Caveat Emptor

I did some poking around apparently HD has something it calls "Flex Financing" which is not materially different from a lease. Who knew?

Hi guys!

I have seen a lot of leasing companies that rent Harley's by the day. They are primarily around tourist spots where a lot of people fly in for a vacation. Hawaii is the first one that comes to mind. I have also seen small companies down in the Florida Keys as well.

As to the original poster, I think I would avoid a bike that was formally a leased bike. Not because the bike may have been in a crash, that is easily determined but because the average customer has little experience with a motorcycle and worked the clutch, brakes, and gearbox hard just being a newbie.

Regards,
Crankster

Can you go in person to inspect the bike? If so, go for it. If not, I'd pass.
Just remember that the market is literally flooded with low mileage, garage queens. And most of them have been for sale so long the owners are likely to be willing to wheel and deal to sell them.
