Ive got a '99 FXDX with 36,000 KM. I bought it for $7500 Canadian. Ive posted som classified ads for stuff i don't need and a guy reached out to me asking if id sell the bike... i said i couldn't let it go for much less than $12,000. Couple emails back and forth and he wants to see it! wtf? is there scams going on? is there a value to my bike that I'm unaware of? i know they aren't made anymore but its not a collector right? or at least won't be worth much in my day right? lol
There are scams were you would ship your bike over seas while gettin a B.S. check that has no value when u go to cash it. Maybe your bike is really nice, just how that guy wants it and he's willing to pay for that. If anyone wants your bike, tell then u only take cash and meet them in person.
Be careful, could be the same scam. He gives you a fake cashiers check for $12,000 and disappears with the bike. It takes weeks for it to bounce back against your account by which time your bike is in Hong Kong. If you meet him insist on cash or accompany him to the bank to receive a real check.
Sounds a little funny to me but maybe he had one like it and really wants it back. If he's willing to meet you/pick up in person with full cash payment I'd say go for it. Trust your gut though.

Not necessarily bikes but there are some cars I've owned over the years that if I found them again or an exact match I would pay well over what they are worth to have it back. But yeah make sure he pays in cash or you accompany him to a bank to pick up your check
