Default Road Glide back to Heritage Classic

I had a 2019 Heritage that I put 50k miles on, but traded it in for a 2024 Road Glide. I remember when I was looking to make the switch to the RG I searched a lot of posts on folks comparing the two. and a lot liked the Heritage better. Well I traded my RG in for a new 2026 Heritage and i couldn't be happier. It like going back to an old friend. The RG was nice on the highway, smooth and fast. For the type of riding I do it was big, heavy, and cumbersome. If I was doing long trips or a lot of highway driving I would have liked it more. I also thought the throttle was snatchy and the brakes were grabby. I hated the interlocked front and rear brakes. On the other hand the Heritage is light and nimble and almost as fast. It can do highways, twisties, and some light "adventure" riding with ease. I do think it's one of the easiest motorcycles to ride. I'm happy I am back.

Yeah, I have a LRS and now the Heritage to ride two up with my wife. I also have a Yamaha XSR900 for sport riding.

Yes, I have a problem. But I’m retired and you can’t take it with you!!

I thought you recently posted that you already had a LRS?

Welcome back.

Yes, the Heritage is a do everything decently bike for those that no longer tour. Will be getting mine out soon - too cold for me to ride below 70 degrees, it's not fun to me to put on an arctic parka to ride a motorcycle. Same with fishing now days, too.

If I ever run into a Heritage with chrome hardware and a 114 or 117 in it I may sell my 24 Road Glide for a Heritage. As stated the Road Glide is getting heavy but I still like the ride.

I am in agreement. I really like Roadglides, had an 05 and did some major touring on it including a few 1000/24 Ironbutt rides. That was 20 years ago.
Now that I have some physical limitations I rarely do more than 100-150 miles in a day. My 13 FLD and 25 FXLRS are both comfortable enough for those distances. I have considered getting a Honda NT1100 as they are very comfortable, but do not see myself touring again. Fibromyalgia starts hurting and limits my ability to ride all day. I was convinced I’d never sell the FLD but that may happen so I can get something under 600 lbs. The Suzuki 800TT has my eye. Then again the Lowrider S could be all I need.
LIke momma told me, getting old sucks. She made it to 96, don’t think I’ll be here that long.
That said I still LOVE riding, been at it for 56 years.

I have found that having more than one bike is like having a wife and a girlfriend(s). One of them will get ridden a lot more than the others.

My experience also. But here I am doing it again. (the motorcycle thing! )
Still have the 2002 Fat Boy I've owned since new. Over the years I've had 4 other "second" bikes to use for cooler weather, longer rides or whatever manufactured reason that popped into my head. They all mostly sat because I liked the old Fat Boy best. So I sold them.
For the last 4 or 5 years I've eyed the off lease police bikes at Daytona Harley while there on vacation. Finally gave in an bought one this past January and trailered it home. This year will be an honest attempt to ride the FLHTP and keep the Fat Boy as a spare for my wife or I should one of our bikes need repair. Or if either of a couple of close friends need a bike if theirs are in the shop.
We'll see how it goes.

I do love my road glide, I'm used to it, it rides, and runs great, and it's treated me well since 2022...BUT, I find myself hopping on my wife's Heritage whenever she's not on it. I really like it. I'm 63 now, I've had both of my knees replaced, I realize I'm not getting any younger. I could totally see myself making that switch down the road. We're going to Sturgis this summer, we'll likely be 2-up seeing all of the sites there, after that...hard to say, but I do think about it often. The Heritage is a fine bike, I have a feeling when/if, I test ride one, that might be it. We're both retiring at the end of June.
Ride safe everyone!
