Possible flood water damage
I am asking for some insight into determining if water intruded into my transmission when bike was in a flood. Best determination the water did not get above the exhaust ports, however, the oil was changed in the primary and NOT the secondary case.
My main question is how to determine if water intrusion may have affected the transmission ? should I change the transmission oil and attempt to run the bike ?
This potential for water in the transmission was overlooked by the novice owner for a period of 1 year after the flood, being a novice HD owner he was not aware of the separate oil requirements for primary and secondary cases.
I am about to drain both cases and look for water in oil, the bike was never started after the flood, only the oil changed in the primary case as a preventive measure.
Thanks, Jimi
If it only got to the muffler openings, your OK.
Most flood cases are total write off if you have insurance. When Isabella went thru, any car if it had a high water line mark, they wrote them off. And it didn't matter where that line was. Now it was saltwater where we are on a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay.
