Air cleaner for long legs
Hi all,
I picked up a 2026 Fat Boy, my first ever Harley, but my knee sits right on top of the ugly OEM wedge air cleaner HD decided to put on the bike. I don't like the look at all and the knee interference makes it difficult for me to get my foot on the rear brake pedal. I'm 6 foot with about a 32/33" inseam, so not all legs, but leggy enough.
I have my eye on the Arlen Ness Stage 2 Oval air cleaner, it's supposed to be lower profile for good knee clearance. I think the chrome one would look good on a Fat Boy, keeping things relatively "classic". Problem is that it's out of stock everywhere, and nobody can give me an ETA on when it'll be available again.
Arlen Ness also has the Method Oval air cleaner, but I'm worried my knee would eventually scratch the plastic window and I'm not sure that see-through design really goes with a Fat Boy.
So I wanted to ask, anyone with long legs have any other air cleaner recommendations? At least stage 1 air flow, ideally stage 2.
Please note that the 2025/2026 models have a redesigned crank case breather system, so 2024 and older cleaners might not fit right. I plan to pull the breather hose off of the back of the air cleaner either way and vent to atmosphere (via an end filter), but the cleaner mounting hardware still needs to work for a 2026.
