Default 6th gear indicator

Everytime I downshift from 4th to 3rd my 6th speed light comes on for a few seconds. Was only a problem when it first happened because I thought I had somehow shifted up to 6th. Now that I know I just ignore it.

Bike is new under warranty and I forgot to mentions it to the dealer during my 1K service.

This happen to anyone else? Is it repairable or not worth it?

If the bike is under warranty, then take it to the dealer and have it fixed.

Probably metal shavings on the speed sensor.

I have had a couple of bikes do the same thing (and 2 rentals). I was told the 6th speed gear indicator is simply a "calculation" and this is typical with the bikes. It happens to me (on 2 different bikes) when I am downshifting and I simply ignore the few seconds that I get the 6th speed indication. SJ Ron

I'd take it in and tell em I want it fixed regardless of what bs excuse they tell ya. That could be a real distraction when your in a stress situation. One split second off your focus is all it takes! Not to mention that would just bug the crp out of me on.

Since most modern (read: non-Harley) bikes have full gear indicators, maybe the MOCO thought it would introduce the cutting edge design of a 6th gear indicator.

mine has always come on for a second while downshifting.. usually between 3rd and 2nd.. it goes off when i let the clutch out. never bothered me. The one is when you're going down a long hill in neutral and your security system starts going nuts, even with the bike running
