Default Kind of a stupid question

just got my heritage tonight. My first harley It's a 1987. My question is does this bike have two gas tanks? The left cap spins off and it looks like the same as the right side. Or are they tied together. I noticed that there is fuel lines running from each side of the tank to the carbs. Any help would be great

Should be 2 tanks with a crossover line

This link should take you to a diagram.

Hey Steven Marine, welcome! Maybe I missed something, is this your 1st time on this forum or have you been here and this is just your 1st Harley?

Having said that there is no such thing as a dumb question. I been riding 40+years and I'm still learning. Now there are a few people here who really get un nerved when someone new asks an old question but just ignore them or hook up with a few guys and do things in private if need be.

Between selling my last bike, a 97 Heritage and this bike I went a few years without and boy, I don't mind telling you that technology zipped right past me. This is my 1st EFI bike and it has me stumped at times. You can contact me anytime you want or need and I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can, IF I can! If I can't I can get you to the right people who can help you.

There are some really great guys here and who are also very talented and gifted people when it comes to Harleys. Ride safe Dude.

Just don't ask any questions about oil...

There are some that will tar and feather you.

Yea, high emotions do tend to rise to the top of annoying questions when asked and talked about over, over and over again. BUT, if your new and have an oil question just ask it. If you want information or have a question you can send me a private message and we can talk about it. Many others here would do the same for you too.

ALSO: If your new here and this is your 1st Harley I'm going to start you out with the best advice, the best information, that I or anyone else can give you is??? Get a model specific Harley manual. It's 1 of the best things you can buy for yourself and your bike that will help you many times over, over the coming years of riding.
