Default Cornering Clearance Peg vs Boards

I drive a 2005 Fatboy, and keep scraping the boards now that I'm lowered.

End of last season I put 422's on her and lowered her, and now I'm scraping a lot. Was scraping before and I knew it would make it worse but it looks so much better and rides a lot better.

Aside from taking it a little easier or raising the height, any options?

Would I have more clearance with forward controls/pegs?

I've seen the board extensions that move them forward an inch too, but obviously pushing the boards out at all will make it worse.

My '05 floorboards always leaving sparks around the corners and that was with no lowering kit...lol
It's something you deal with. Watch a couple of the obstacle course videos, not only will you hear the floorboards scraping but see spark also. Just part of it.

I will scrape my pipes before scraping pegs while slammed. I do have shorter pegs than stock so that may be a factor?

Sounds like you have the wrong bike for the type of riding you are doing.

Forward controls and pegs will allow you to lean further before scraping. ( depends on your pipes, they may scrape before pegs)

It is usually the back portion of your board that scrapes first. Eliminate the lowest portion, eliminate the scraping.

I don't mind scraping up the boards, as half of the thickness is damn near gone already, its what happens when theres a pot hole or something that the board catches.

I'll have to check on the pipe situation, probably a lot smarter to touch down with something that has some give as opposed to the exhaust.

It is definitely the back half of the boards scraping, so what you had said Gommee makes complete sense now that I think of it.

As for the wrong type of bike, I wouldn't quite agree. I mean I do push it a bit but I don't think Im that hard on it. I mean even making a U turn it'll scrap pretty easy, just hoping to avoid a bad situation where the boards hooks on something.

Guess I'll be scouring for some forwards, if the exhaust seems high enough, like I need an excuse to buy more parts lol.

Just think of scraping floor boards as an early warning system...
