Default Future Standard owner/ Newbie

Hey All. New to forum, been reading it for a few days. Yes, the Harley bug has sank it's teeth deep within my bones and refuses to release itself!! Ive owned several metric cruisers, but now am going with what I've wanted for years. Iguess the only debate I'm having is FI or carb. Im getting the 06 Softail Standard. Of course exhaust is first on list. Am looking at the cycle shack slip on's. Will do a stage 1 later. From what I gather, little warm up time with FI vs. carb. But is it worth the xtra cost for getting stage 1 with the FI vs. carb? Unfortunatly, I have a long wait untill my day comes, like next spring.. ouch! But itll be worth the wait!! Until then Ill just hang out here and feed the ever persistent bug that dwells in me, screaming HD SOFTAIL!!!!!!! Looking forward to it!

Welcome, Dawg! Where in central LA? Do you ever get up Shreveport way? I live in East Texas, but work in Mooringsport, LA, just up LA 1 from S'port.

Drop in on the New Members Area and intro youself there, so everyone will know there will soon be another Sloptail owner. Strength in numbers, y'know?

Howdy, welcome to the forum. Too bad that you have to wait until next Spring, but the wait will be worth it once you get your new Harley. A lot of us have had to do the waiting game. I know that it might not help much, but you have a lot of company here in the waiting game.

Yes, I bought mine in March. I will pick it up next week. The wait is killing me.

I went with the EFI. I don't plan on doing any major engine mods, so I figured that was the way to go.

Welcome dude! I had my eyes on the new Standards as well, you know with the "Jay-Lo" sized rear tire. Make sure to post pics when you get a chance.

Welcome from Pittsburgh! The wait will be worth it once you're on that scoot!

I was in the same boat as you, had a metric cruiser and really wanted that HD. Well, 2 weeks ago I picked up a barely used 2000 Softail Standard! I hope you can withstand the wait

Welcome Dawg...and trust me - it's worth the wait. Plus - you're getting a BRAND NEW 06!!! That kicks major @$$. Congrats on deciding to buy a Harley - you WILL NOT BE SORRY - I am living proof of that. I just bought a 1993 FLSTF and I am simply in awe of this machine...

Post some pics of that beauty when you get her home...I'm interested in seeing some closeups of her rear end...

Thanks to all for the welcome. Oh yes it'll be well worth the wait! Pococj, I get up to S'port every once in awhile. I used to live in Lufkin Tx. Folks still do so I visit east Tx, often.
Thanks again everybody for the encouragement to "wait till the time is right"! See ya'll around...
