Default Changed bars WO508 Chubbys

I had been experiencing a lot of upper back pain since around 2005 from old injuries, scoliosis and arthritis. I have changed out a lot of bars trying to ride for more than an hour at a time. I was getting ready to go to a taller ape but the pain started becoming intermittently stabbing so I went to the spine specialist. We talked about riding and he suggested I needed to go lower and closer on the bars so I did. The results have been outstanding. I couldn't be happier riding pain free. Chubby bars have great pullback on most of there bars. The only thing I had to change was the brake line. A friend did the wiring as I shake to much trying to do any little task anymore.

Your bike looks great. I've been thinking about putting lower bars on too.

he's right, it does look nice, I bet they are comfortable. I used to want a cool looking bike, but comfortable wins now.

You did good my friend. Whatever it takes to make your ride more comfy for ya, that's the name of the game. By the way, your bike looks great.

I cannot wrap my head around comfort when those bars look like the same hand position as holding a wheel barrel.

That was good and that's about the position they are in to. I had to laugh. Here's a few more for your viewing pleasure.

I am sitting here in my chair trying to emulate the hand controls for your handle bars and honestly I can't until my hands are more parallel to each other.

You're cracking me up this morning. Before I bought these bars I did the same thing, sitting in a chair, wondering how the wrist angle was gonna work. Surprisingly, these bars are very comfortable. As a matter of fact I feel more comfortable in twisties because I'm not "reaching" and leaning into the bars. The only downside I have experienced vs the taller bars is that it is a little more difficult to push the bike around. At 5' 8" with a short reach I'm not reaching for these bars at all.

Good to hear I am not the only one that didn't understand the bars

Sit on the bike and duck walk instead of standing on the side and trying to push. It is a lot easier on the back. Your next upgrade should be Shotgun Shock. It will help keep you on the bike for more miles at a time.

If you really want to do your back a favor, start riding a bicycle with an endurance geometry. It sucks in the beginning but after a couple of weeks, your body will notice the difference.

Thanks for the advice. I just finished servicing the bicycle Monday. I used to rid a lot in the 2000's but moved in 2009 and stopped.
