Default Dyno Tuning For Carb Bike + Baffle Install

I've been contacting dealerships inquiring about dyno tuning my bike, and the quotes are all over the place. Been quoted ranges from $250 - $500. From what I've read, there's only so much "tuning" on a dyno that can be done for a carb bike, and I'm assuming the higher end of the quotes are just throwing out their standard EFI rate for tuning, even though I've clearly stated I don't have EFI.

Anyone have any experience having a carb bike dyno tuned? Time? Cost?

I'm also in dire need of a baffle, as my 2-1 pipe doesn't have one, and I don't think it was ever intended to have one because it's not drilled for a baffle screw. It's an increasing diameter muffler that's almost 4" at the end and around 2 3/4' where it meets the header pipe. Having a difficult time finding a baffle for it, but it's an absolute necessity due to the noise and the bike pulling like a slug off idle. The quotes I've received for adding a baffle + labor are around $200 total. Figure it's worth my time to do it myself.

Baffle suggestions?

Carb? Should be able to dial it in yourself.

it's not common but can be done, but prob isn't necessary. Google CV carb tuning an there's lots of articles an videos on how to do it. If you read enough you'll see why it isn't normally necessary. once you have the jets an needle right you can back out the air adj screw, if it comes out more than 3 to 3.5 turns before bogging you need to go up a jet size until you hit that sweet spot. some say enlarge the hole in the slide some say don't some go to a thunder slide, some go to a aftermarket spring, some just set it up for an adj afr screw an get the jets dialed in. once that's done. put in new plugs an ride some an read the plugs to see where you're at. there's places on ebay that you send in your carb an for around $200 they'll build you a performance carb, tell them your set up an they'll jet it.

Don't waste time at a dealer. Find an Indy shop with a Dyno and have them dial it in. It should be far less than the mapping required to do an EFI. I had my 97 dialed in by Doctor Dyno in Americade last year and it was under $200.

Or as said above. Do some research and dial the jets and timing in on your own.

It does take longer to adjust and change out the jets than it does to make a few mouse clicks.
