Default high beam, passing lights

Why did Harley make the 2007 Softails so that when you turn on the highbeam the passing lights shut off? It's in the owner's manual so I know it's not a mistake. Anyone know how to override this? I like all the visablility I can get.

I cut and pasted this wiring diagram from a previous post in the electrical and lighting DIYsection on this forum. Not sure of the make or model of the bike, just passing on some info. It was posted by pilot1996 on 5/28/2005

Passing lights/lamps are the two lights adjacent to the headlight. Many Baggers have them; however you can install them on just about any kind of bike.
I have them on my '07 Springer Classic.

Hmm... U can put the Auxiliary Lights on any bike... the Softails like the Heritage or Deluxe come with them, may peeps put them on because they are easier to see, and they make it easier to see the road at night time.

actually I am about to put them on my fatboy..

From the picture of your bike it looks as if you are running with a detachable windshield.
Will you need a different windshield to fit the passing lamp configuration?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing but swapping out another
windshield to fit the passing lampsis not something I want to do, $$$$$.

Hey guys,
I've been following this forum for a couple of months and figured this would be a good time to jump in with my 1st post.I had the deluxe lighting kit installed this past weekend at the 1000 mile service. I was also worriedabout the detachable windshield, but it all fit perfectly....here's a pic....
