Default Handle bar wire connection, repon solder or connector?

I understand that wire extensions go between the factory wire and where it connects under the tank.

But i see people using words like splice and repin.

So it unclear to me what happens at the hand controls. Is there soldering or repinning required there or is it a connector?

2014 Slim

Thanks

Soldered in there I believe. I have a loose hot wire in mine which I was able to slide up and just gorilla glued the part where the wire sheath slides in. It appears you can open the housing where it slides in and I presume re-solder it to the board, but after a week of just wanting to be done with my own wiring, the glue fixed worked for now. I can readdress it later if I get a wile hair.

Some people don't want to remove the tank and depin from the molex connector.. So they cut and splice/solder the connections. The wiring at the controls stays in place. you remove the controls, wiring and all from the bars.

Thanks trying to get a picture in my head. Just finally realized one flaw in the picture.

I was thinking my stock wiring was internal in the bars but it actually is not. Internal is what it will be in the new bars.

Trying to picture what end of the harness feeds in first?

Finally i looked at a you tube vid. Not sure why i never think to do that first.

So it looks like you have to discoonect the pins from the connector under the tank then feed them into the bars where the hand controls mount. Woo hoo.
