Welcome to the forum.
You have 17 inch wheels. It's written on your tires. The suffix "R17" in 140/75-R17 stamped on the front tire, for example, means 17 inch. No, going to a smaller wheel will help very little, if at all. If you wanted better handling, you should have gotten into a sport bike with a shorter wheelbase; or a Buell. Those have a VERY short wheelbase.
Advice: learn to counter steer.

I have a 11 Fatboy Lo and have tried to improve it's cornering abilities. The 200 tire on the back doesn't help a whole lot with this problem. From past experience a 180 is about the biggest tire that facilitates cornering. In desperation I even tried a car tire for awhile to increase the milage I was getting out of the 200. I do think it cornered better but it about wore me out holding it in a corner when on a twisty road. Kept wanting to stand me up so had to muscle it all the time. I'm thinking to try a 180 off the dressers for my next tire change. My brothers leave me behind when we get in the twisties and that never happened when I was riding dressers(84 FLHTC and a 02 Road Glide). Course I'm getting older but that's no excuse. For whatever reason I also have a 08 Crossbones that has the 200 tire and I can corner better with it. I've upgraded the front and rear suspension on the Fatboy and I'm still slacking. Not giving up and will try the 180 on the rear next tire change.

2014 Fat Boy Lo
Guess I didn't make myself clear. I am thinking about going to narror tires. I'm am aware my wheels are 17 in and plan on keeping that diameter wheel but am wondering if a smaller width wheel on the rear would help the bike corner better. If so can anyone suggest an appropriate width 17 inch wheel?
