Hey guys,
posting this for my buddy. He just bought a slightly used 2016 slim s with a 21 inch wheel on the front. The ABS light warning is blinking. He has had it reset and the stealer has tried to work on it.
The dealer is telling him that the largest tire you can put on this bike is a 19 inch and still have abs work. I went through this problem with my Street Glide Special with linked brakes but this doesn't have linked brakes.
Any input on this guy's? Is the dealer correct? Can anyone call B.S. on this based on experience?
Bad *** bike!
so, the thundermax fixes code C1029. This slim is throwing code C1021 -
C1021 ABS front WSS always zero
does anyone else that has pit a 21" wheel on their slim s had this problem with their ABS?
could really use some input.
I have had this code, when I inadvertently left my abs sensor wire unplugged under the tank. You may have a broken wire in the sensor line, its a known issue, the moco zipties that wire too tight sometimes on the head tube and it can break the wire. You can also unbolt the tank front and rear, disconnect your fuel line and slide the tank back about four inches. Stuff microfiber towels underneath to keep from gouging the rocker box covers, particular attention to the pinch clamps for the fuel crossover. Check the grey two-wire connector on the left side of the top tube, under the rubber boot. I’m sure there's a resistance measurement for the WSS that you can probably google and find. Like I said, in my case it was just not fully connected the first time I powered the bike up to check my hand control wiring after extending it, you may find yours simply disconnected. Sounds to me, worst case, you either have to repair a broken wire, or replace the WSS, neither of which are incredibly complex repairs.
Also, I wouldnt get discouraged becasue the dealer is dismissive, Often times they dont know their own products very well. Just concentrate on diagnosing the problem and forget what the dealer told you.
I had the ABS light and code problem on my 2015 CVO Deluxe after putting a 21" wheel on the front. Talking to Sinister wheel, it required an Arlen Ness ABS bearing to solve the problem. Not sure what's different about that bearing but the problem went away.
