Build thread: 2001 FXSTD Deuce aka "Dark Mistress"
Figured instead of just whoring up my intro thread by accident i better get started on a build thread for this bike.
Specs as of this time:
2001 FXSTD Deuce
88B Twin Cam with stock 5 speed trans.
Stage 1 upgrades (Exhaust for sure..will need to pull the air cleaner cover to confirm if it has a higher flow filter or not...If not guess im picking one up soon)
63200 KMs as of this time.

As seen in the background of the top pic i do have a quick detach windscreen for it. I also have a pair of grips from a CVO sitting in the parts bin. Was going to try to install them today only to discover i do not have the proper torx bits to remove the originals. So that project is on the back burner till pay day.
Mod plans so far:
Dechrome and powdercoat risers as the chrome is pealing off them
Change the Derby cover to one with either the SOA insignia or the HD Dark customs number 1. Same goes with the Air cleaner insert and timing cover insert.
Daymaker LED headlight
Mustang 2 piece seat when funds allow.
Larger pad on sissy bar when i change to the Mustang Seat.
Rekluse Clutch
Gradually replacing rusted fasteners with either black ones or chrome ones. This bike seemed to have lived a good portion of its life outside. Fortunately it will be spending the winters in my bosses heated garage along side his '13 Softail Classic.
Not exactly too sure what my plans are engine wise just yet. May just add cams to bump it up to Stage II and call it good. Or eventually do a 95" or 100" top end.

Made a couple changes to the bike today. Removed the sissy bar and changed the grips. It looks a lot cleaner now in my opinion. Left the mount for the sissy bar on the fender so i could easily reverse this change later. But i doubt i will.
First a pic of how the bike looked when i first started the process of buying it.
First pics of the Deuce..

No more sissy bar for now
Cleaner without the rear sissy bar..

I have been riding an '06 Nighttrain for most of the morning as my Deuce is in the shop getting a fuel leak sorted out. The 'Train has a 95" kit with cams on it and i gotta say i like the power of that bike! Gives me a pretty decent idea of what my Deuce would feel like with that upgrade. Granted the Nighttrain is a fuel injected bike so it will be a bit smoother and maybe a touch more umph...but Either way...I am probably going that route over the winter.

Very Nice bike! The more i see the turn signals mounted on the lower triple the more i think they belong there. i may end up doing a turn signal relocation yet if i do not go the way of mirrors with integrated signals.
