Default Drag Specialties Taillight

I installed a Drag Specialties Smoked Laydown Taillight on my Fatboy, Found out the hard way the bulb is too close to the lens, it started melting into the lens, went back to the dealer and they keep telling me its the right bulb, and Drag is the only one that makes a 3157NR bulb. I got a standard 3157 from a auto store and compared them, the clear bulb from the auto store is about 1/8" shorter than the 3157NR (red bulb) but all the auto parts stores I called can only get clear or amber bulbs.Sent an e-mail to Drag spec. but they won't respond. anyone else run into this or have any ideas who else might sell 3157NR bulbs ?

I too had one of the Drag Specialties Lenses and mine to melted. Belive it or not all that had to be done was for the bulb to be flipped opposite side of what it is now. If you look at the bulb there is a long filament and a short one. If memory serves me right the short one should be at the top, or vice versa of how you have it now. I too didnt belive it but once I did this the melting stopped. I got mine from Custom Dynamics and that is what was stuck to the package of the lens. Hope this helps ya.

My bad experience was on my Dyna. It didn't fit right to begin with. I exchanged it 3 times...thinking it was a defect, as it would not seat tight on the seal like the factory on did. They re-assured me that it was a universal cover, and that is how it is supposed to fit. I tried it anyways, because I don't make it a habit to ride in the rain. And after all of that, the damn thing melted.

They can keep that POS.
