OUT NOW ?? ____ OHLINS NIX30 FKS-508 Fork Cartridges ____ for 2018 Fat Bob ____ (NIX22 for other 2018s)
EDIT: Ohlins also has New NIX22 for most of the other 2018 Softails (FKS-221 and FKS -222 See Following NIX30) -- New Monoshocks also
I happen to spot these NIX30 on the Ohlins Site ... Don't have any more info at this point than what I've included below.
Just thought I'd post it up ...I don't think this old news
Also, these are NIX30 Not Nix22

Wow
I have been doing these for 49mm forks since Ohlins first changed from 25mm cartridges to 30mm cartridges. At the same time I modified 2006 Dyna 49mm forks and V-Rod sliders so I could put dual disks on a Dyna. I pointed out the flaws of the 41mm forks and the Bagger triple trees than did something about it. I cut the Dyna fork tubes down and used the V-Rod sliders (there was no 2014 bagger trees invented yet) and put 30mm Ohlins cartridges in them. I believe this is 2008/9? but I can not remember back that far. I have received the price list. It will cost around as much as I have been charging since I first started making this conversion.

Yes, you will be need and be getting a set of 2 cartridges + you'll need springs (see last page of manual)
Besides the Preload adjustment on each, One side will have adjustable Compression Damping and the other will adjust Rebound Damping
FKS-221 Installation Manual (< link to, but also below)

Hey Howard, I had a pair of your Ohlin's shocks on the back of my 07 Street Glide. Amazing improvement over the aftermarket Works shocks that I had before nevermind how much better those were compared to the stock shorty air shocks. I've got a new 18 Heritage now. Have you had a chance to work up improvements to the suspension on these? I'd be very interested.
I'd much rather give my money to a regular dude like Howard than companies like Race-Tech or Fournales for comparable improvements.

There is no information available to anyone at OhlinsUSA or my dealer Ohlins World site for all published information. There is just a generic mounting instructions which is for an inverted 43mm fork which these HD models do not have but the "Custom" Dyna model has with the oblong LED headlight. Those are derived from the XR1200LA and XR1200X models and show up from time to time on other HD's. I have 3 sets of those here that can go onto Dynas (dual disk) as they are mid glide and not Wideglide.
We have been converting those since 2009 (LA) & 2010 (XR1200X [BP]) on the XR1200 racebike series now defunked.
It is unclear to anyone at OhlinsUSA what the valving will look like which is the most important piece of the puzzle. It would not make any sort of sense how Ohlins could sell the FGK-xxx race type for the low dealer pre-sale pricing given to us. I would guess (only) that the valving would be like the FKC/FKS 22mm cartridges which there is a big reason why the pricing is much less. I have no direct hands on information like anyone in the USA. I have a lot of experience with cartridges that are available.

Howard I'll get a revalve here in OZ for the shock or just get a progressive set up for cheap.
Try to make the rear sit up an inch higher in the stroke and the same at the front somehow so whatever you learn about the 18 Softail front ends keep us posted man.
My little Blob might become a canyon carver.
