Default Basket Case. What be

I am new to the H.D. Forum. At the age of 52 I'm converting from a life long metric guy to American Iron. What better way to start than with this basket case that I picked-up from a friend. I live in Mobile, Alabama, and LOVE the freedom of the ride! Glad to be part of the group.

Welcome to the Forum. First Harley basket case might be a challenge. If you're up for it, that's cool.

Welcome to the forum.. I would suggest that you track down a Harley service manual and make it a very good friend.. It will explain everything that you need to know .. Pictures included ..

Looks like the tranny is a 4 speed kicker.
What info do you have on bike?

No limit on questions, but do your homework first.
When you ask something, be sure to give all the information available and a picture or 2 when possible. There will be some good information here, if you ask the right questions and listen to the right people. Also there are sub-Forums for Shovels and Evos. That Kicker didn't come off of a 97, they were discontinued by 87 and earlier than that on some models. You may have lots of mis-matched parts.
Frame serial # and engine Case #s are a start - they can be searched on the internet.
