Default Quieting V&H short shots

I need to quiet down my Vance and Hines Short Shots...
Took my Rocker C for its annual inspection and it failed - exhaust noise was measured at 107 db and its got to be less than 95, a big difference.
I don't have the original pipes, this is how I bought the bike.
Any suggestions, temporary fixes are good!

Steve

Just an idea, if the pipes came with baffles in them, would it be possible to change them out for quieter ones?

Yes, quiet baffles will reduce the db but not enough for you to notice. Also baffles blow out with age. How old are they?

They will never be that quiet. Factory mufflers are you only option for 95db

I put queit baffles in mine and they are still very loud. Short shots wont get down to that db. If you have baffles you could try pulling and wrapping in fiberglass, and wrapping in wire to help fit. But I'm sure they will still be loud just a little less at idle.

Get a set of used OEM Factory slip-ons or pipes. Install, get bike inspected, go home and put the old ones back on.

I put a set of Thunder Torque inserts in my V&H Big Radius pipes and they are quieter now. I haven't measured the noise level, so I don't know if they will get you there, but these were noticeably quieter than the V&H quite baffles I tried.

I dont think you will ever be able to get it quiet enough for you to pass the sound check of 95 db using the "short shots".

V&H does make "quiet baffles" for your pipes, I have them in my "Big Shots Staggered" but all they did was change the tone a little IMO

I haven't brought my bike in to get inspected in the last 5 years...

They just check your lights and horn and maybe take a look at the Brake Pads...

107db vs. 85db...is 12 times the sound level. You’ll never get short shots that much quieter.
