I am not a fan of many HD parts and accessories; too many of them are overpriced and lack quality. But, after researching windshields for the last month, I just bought and installed the HD Windsplitter Quick-Release Compact 14" Windshield. (Part # 5740033.) It was easy to assemble and install. It is extremely stable while riding--no wobble, shakes or noise. Minimum, if any, "sail-effect". And, when removed, it doesn't leave any hardware behind on the bike to clutter the clean look of the bike. The main plus is the excellent wind protection provided by the low-wide design that uses a reverse flip at the top of the windshield. The flip adds additional wind shear lift to provide the protection of a taller wind screen. The look of the low-wide designs complements the look of a cruiser instead of looking dorky, and it allows the rider to look well over the windshield instead of through it.

Reason: Remove a typo.
But for me the HD shields are way too much money, Longride, Memphis Shades and many others are much less with the same features.
I went Memphis Shades for my 2 windshields (a full size "Fats" same as the HD Heritage Shield and a compact "13 Skinny") and their Batwing Fairing with a "spoiler shield (has the lip). So 30 seconds I can switch from nothing to any of the 3, full size or small windshield or batwing.
I like the quality of the MS Trigger lock quick detach hardware better than the HD rubber bushing and spring clip from HD.
Well I actually installed a new Michelin Commander II front tire after feeling the difference from the rear a week ago, along with new front rotor and pads. Then I purchased and mounted a new wide touring Mustang solo seat, DAM was that an improvement. Made one hell of a difference in my 1650+ mile trip to the U P of Michigan, including two nonstop rides of 500 mile straight thru's from Ohio to Grand Marais and back. I would not have made it to the bridge in one run with the factory seat.
Next expenditure, the audio Fairing,,,,, who knows then maybe a gear change and a trailer???
Changed out the OEM seat on my new Softail with the Mustang Wide Tripper before I even brought it home. So much more comfortable, and it puts me more down in the bike for better control.
I installed the sport clip-on windshield from H-D. I got it for $250 shipped from Surdyke
I like the look, no obstructing frame work and I look thru it which is the way I like it. I am a short rider so I have no choice! Less turbulence and buffeting that way.
